I've arrived in Australia!

OK, so I've been a bit rubbish at writing so far. It has mainly been due to not having time, but also not being able to navigate round this website in Spanish!
Peru was great fun. We started on in Lima, headed for Cusco (delayed for 8hours because of a water strike... EIGHT hours because there was a group of people arguing over FOUR logs in the road!) We had a lovely day though as we were surrounded by mountains in the sunshine. Quickly got bored so resorted to playing games and singing with some local kids. They requested our national anthem, which I'm sure I didn't do justice!

Once we'd finally got into Cusco, which is BEAUTIFUL-especially at night, they have a fountain in the middle of the plaza which is lit up and then surrounded by a grand cathedral and lots of little slightly antique looking buildings which have restaurants on the second level overlooking the square, where there are many dancers in big skirts and crazy hats preparing for the big festival later on in the month. There were also people selling stuff on the streets, everywhere you go. They have a big thing about alpaca wool in this country which you can see when you get hats, socks, fluffy slippers, whatever, thrown in your face from street sellers passing by. The juices here are awesome, all freshly whizzed up, most of the time skin and all!

After some shopping around we decided to go on the 5 day Salakanti trek to Machupiccu. We had our first lunch (with two courses!)of the trek perched up on top of a mountain, surrounded by views, (sitting at a table-very civilised!) it was stunning. We were put in the young'uns group and despite our expectations of being the "sprightly' group, soon discovered that we had been overtaken by the oldies, and would be for the rest of the trek (well they had years of experience behind them as well as those magic poles!)....to be continued....
